WHO?
Sef Farruġia is a Fashion / Textile Designer based in Malta.
Born and raised in the Maltese Islands, Sef Farruġia’s work is a manifestation of her island’s diverse roots. Drawing inspiration from her Mediterranean surroundings, her influences are deeply rooted in her origins mystifying histories. The studio’s signature is that to create contemporary visuals with quirky characteristics, hinting cultural principles and experimenting with perceptions of identity. Sef’s illustrious prints are always a pivital point to her collections.
After completing a foundation at London College of Fahsion and graduating with a ‘One to Watch’ award from Ravensbourne University, as well as interning for various designers, including Giles Deacon, in 2012 she returned to Malta where she established her brand. She launched a small accessories collection and a year later took on a lecturing post in the Arts. As the venture gradually grew, so did the prospects and in 2017 she set up a studio space in Rabat.
The brand focuses on creating quality pieces by merging old skills with new technology. All of the items are hand finished an limited in production number. As well as readily available pieces, the studio offers bespoke services.
More recently in 2018, the studio has been commissioned to design the costumes for ‘The Crucible’ at the Manoel Theatre and has enjoyed avrious collaborations with the likes of CISK and Blitz gallery.

WHERE?
SEFFARRUGIA’s studio / shop space is situated in one of the oldest and most iconic villages in Malta on 27, Triq Ir-Repubblika, Rabat. The area is also known as ‘The Old Market’ and used to be part of the silent city of Mdina.
